Spread Your Sunshine!!!

I’ve been having alot of fun volunteering with Project Sunshine, a nonprofit organization that provides free educational, recreational, and social programs to children facing medical challenges and their families (for more info please go to www.projectsunshine.org). They do some great stuff by going into children’s hospitals to do little art projects with the kids. I met this wonderful woman, Genevieve Almodovar at a networking event. She generously volunteers as a chapter leader with Project Sunshine to bring fun to the kids at the Chris Evert’s Children’s Hospital in Broward County. And I told her that I would love to take the children through a dream board project & she loved the idea so we did it! I’ve done this at 3 different locations now with her help & others with the local Miami chapter (Rob Sena, James Carlisle, Jessica Hochberg) & I am having so much fun with it! I wanted to share this with you because this goes along so well with my last blog on Dreams and to demonstrate to you how good it feels to give & how you receive so much when you give. Yet you give, not in order to receive, but just to give. As Bob Burg, my mentor, good friend & co-author of one of my favorite books, The Go-Giver states, “You give, give, give… Because you love to. It’s not a strategy, it’s a way of life.” Really the truth is that you recieve so much just in giving… it feels so very good to give! In giving my time & energy & hope to these children, it makes me so happy! I’m really just loving it! You should have seen me the last time, singing, bobbing my little head around, helping one of the little girls create 3 dream boards – yes, 3! And she wanted to keep going! She was so adorable!! Here are some pictures of her dream boards – she’s dreaming of vacations, exercise, health, happiness, doggies, weddings, shoes, flowers, jewelry (a girl after my own heart
) She’s dreaming of her healthy, happy, beautiful future!!

Dream Board #1 - "Believe..."

Wedding Dream Board (#2) - "The Fairytale Starts Here"
Recently I learned that Project Sunshine actually wants to do a feature article on me for their national newsletter – I’m so honored & excited! So for the article they asked me to describe what the dream board project was and this is what I told them:
“Basically the purpose of my wanting to do the Dream Board Project for these beautiful children is to give them their dreams to focus on while they are going through their challenges. I strongly believe that what we focus on expands. So if these children have their dreams and hopes of a bright future to focus upon, through the energy & excitement that is created, I believe that they will be able to live more powerfully in the moment as well. I speak to them about never giving up on their dreams and believing that their dreams can come true too! I want them to not only have hope, but also the strong belief & faith that their dreams can come true – and with that the amazing strength and power that this can give to them! On these dream boards, they can create what they want their futures to look like: what they want to do, what they want to be, what they want to have. Basically, start to create their goals. And now that they have goals, it gives them something to look forward to, something to work towards. So I put on some happy, empowering music and we cut out pictures of some of the things that represent some of their dreams for their future! Then I tell them to take these dream boards and hang them on their walls to look at every day so that they can keep taking little steps to get closer and closer to these dreams. With these dream boards, they create & focus on the dreams they have for their future reality and then create the power within themselves to live into that beautiful reality of their dreams!”
And of course, all of this is true for you as well! Don’t ever let go of your most precious dreams… keep believing & working towards them! And then share your powerful energy with others & spread the sunshine!!!! In this spirit, I wanted to let you know that I am donating 50% of the proceeds from all of my ebook sales of A Bella Life to the 3 charitable organizations I support currently: Project Sunshine, The Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, & Women in Distress.
